SMALL Lab at the Conference on Motor Speech
SMALL Lab director Kimberly Dahl escaped the Blizzard of 2026 to attend CMS in sunny Tempe, AZ. She presented her poster, “Controlling for natural variation in fundamental frequency is unnecessary to measure vocal motor learning.” This work was done in collaboration with Cara Stepp of the Stepp Lab at Boston University, and its findings show that experiments designed to study how people adapt to certain changes in their voice can be done more efficiently.
When not busy with conference happenings, Kim got to hang out with Dephane the tortoise, one of many in her aunt and uncle’s backyard menagerie.
